Not all BBQ's are approved to be converted to natural gas. Check the data plate & instructions that come with your BBQ. Once confirmed the BBQ must be converted by a registered trades person & a certificate of compliance must be issued.
Check that your gas cylinder is turned on Check that the burners are free of obstructions. Check that all gas injectors are not blocked. Check for a spark on the starter probe.
Always leak test gas connections & lines with a soapy water solution. Turn the gas bottle on without lighting the BBQ & check for bubbles as per your instruction manual. If the leak persists contact your local store of purchase for assistance.
Check the gas cylinder is turned on. Check the gas cylinder is not low on gas. Check that the gas hose is not kinked or twisted. Make sure the BBQ is placed out of the wind & is sheltered.
Cast iron
Clean with a scourer/brass bristle BBQ brush, hot soapy water, rinse & dry completely,coat with oil to prevent surface rust.

Clean with scourer,hot soapy water & dry completely.
Depending upon the model, solid hot plates are available for purchase and can be used in place of the grill. However, this is only recommended in models that feature multiple grill plates – for example, a six burner model with two grills and one hotplate, or barbecues with grill surfaces only.

It is NOT possible to replace all the grill plates with hotplates in your barbecue - otherwise you will cause the unit to overheat and potentially catch fire. A grill plate must be in position in the barbecue at all times while the unit is in use - ensuring proper ventilation.

Clean with warm soapy water or non abrasive cleaner and a light scourer, then wipe dry. Avoid using caustic based products to clean your BBQ.
If your BBQ was originally supplied with Volcanic Rock, Yes you may replace these rocks as they become soiled. If your BBQ was manufactured for use with a Flame Tamer you may Not add Volcanic Rocks. Doing so will void your warranty.
This is known as "flash-back". Turn the BBQ off and let it cool, then check to see that the burners do not have obstructions such as spiders or insects. Also check that the jetflame ignition is aligned properly with the neck of the burner and is not obstructed.
Yes with a good quality BBQ cover to protect your BBQ from the elements.
Unscrew the ignition cap and check the battery, it may need replacing. Check to see the ignition leads are connected to the ignition box.
No. Only 2 burners should be on at a time with the hood down.
Remove and clean the port holes along the sides of the burners with wire brush and check inside the burner for obstructions. Check you are using the correct hose & regulator. It may be incorrect or damaged and may need replacing.
By reducing the amount of fat on meats that you are cooking. Marinades should be allowed to sink in and marinate the meat. If cooking marinated meats, be sure to allow the marinades to drain a little before you place your meat on the BBQ. Once you have a flare-up going take control of it by moving the meat that is dripping fat in the the flare up to another location on the BBQ. Clean Flame diffuser & sand tray regularly.

Keep covered at all times when not in use. In coastal area's wash rinse & dry your BBQ before covering as salt deposits can cause even the highest grade of stainless to rust. When cleaning/polishing stainless steel surfaces always's clean along the grain of the steel. During winter periods it is best to store grills and hotplates indoors.
Turn off all control knobs. Turn of gas cylinder. Spanner tighten all gas fittings. Check all gas connections and hoses by doing the soapy water leak test. Regularly check your gas connections & lines for damage, cuts or cracks. If the odours still persists contact your local Garth representative.
You can use dry sand or any other non flammable absorbent material. Change regularly to avoid the likelihood of a sand tray fire.
This is caused by overheating of the BBQ; do not exceed maximum operating temperatures
Check that the hoses have been properly connected as per your instruction manual. Check that there are no obstructions in or around the burner/venturi such as spider webs, insects etc.
